While we are on the "gray"matter.........
Today, gray is the buzz. We are seeing gray as the new neutral, replacing beige (some say this is not so). I believe both gray and beige can work together to transform spaces. However, I want to explore gray a little further before moving on to the next color missing in mine or your life.
Have you ever hit the infamous WALL? Was it gray?
Gray transitions between black and white. Are you in a place where you need to see the gray? There is always
"gray" matter between the black and the white.
Sometimes we just chose not to see the gray areas of life.
Gray embraces intelligence. Individuals who refuse to see the gray in life could be considered
closed-minded, thus not so intelligent.

Like the big fat gray cat gray is secure, intelligent, reliable. However, gray doesn't have to be the center of attention
like the cat. Are you always the center of attention? looking for ways to stand out?

Gray is modest.
and as I stated previously, gray helps other colors take center stage while it hangs
out behind the scenes.
Some think gray is boring.
But paired with this incredibly great pink, it comes alive! It adds intrigue and allows you to see
the true colors of the white and pink.
Gray is the subject of much discussion.

Let's talk color.......
Everyday we are surrounded by color. Some of us see those things around us vividly, while others see muted shades and others see only black and white. As for me the intensity in which i see everything around me is just that intense. The bold greens springing forth, the violent fushia taking over, the brown of the dirt, the creamy white of the sand.....and especially the sparkly blue greens of the gulf.
Do you appreciate the colors you see everyday? Look around, see the color in everything, how does the color make you feel? Does it bring excitment and joy, or sorrow. Or feelings of love and affection?
And have you ever stopped to think what color best describes you? better yet, have you ever thought what color is missing in your life? Now that's a question many of us have probably never even thought about.....but really........WHAT COLOR ARE YOU MISSING?
There happens to be a very popular color being used a lot for kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, you name it. This color is neutral. IT IS GRAY......

People who love gray or favor it tend to be the "lone wolf"type.
Gray is a color of friendship amoung Native Americans.
The energy gray gives off is void, empty, and lack of movement. When gray has more silver in it -
gray becomes an active color.
Gray is a sign of responsibility and conservativism. If you are a practical person - you probably lean toward gray tones.

My Love of Pink continues.......
If you have picked up a home magazine lately, you would have found the color pink (my fav color)! Pink is the unsung hero of design...in my opinion. Pink is always overshadowed by Red. That fearless, I WANT ATTENTION red. Everyone knows what I am speaking of. That color that takes center stage while the other sits quietly knowing it did all the work! haha....
Pink has evolved over the years which I addressed in my last entry.......but what about those companions? The colors pink is paired with. Remember the "preppy"years. I was never in a sorority - just an independent. Pink and Green. When I would walk past Sorority Row at the University of Alabama during the 80's.....that is all I would see. Pink and Green. Green slacks, pink tops. Signs with big Green polka dots and Pink words. Socks, shoes, hair bows, ribbons, bedding............EVERYTHING!
So I wanted to explore the colors PINK is paired with in the world of interior design and decorating....... on a sophsicated level...... where Pink takes center stage......or

My Love of Pink........
when i was just a little girl I asked my mommie what shall I be. will I be pretty will I be rich? here's what she said to me............ memories of childhood bring happy thoughts. especially when we lived in florida where my bedroom was painted a warm pale pink. remembering how the light would make the room warmer as it danced around the room. this is when my love of pink began. Barbie was my hero, she loved pink just as much as I did. how I wanted the pink convertible!
i would have given anything to have had these pink pencils at school....

since then pink has come a long way baby...... now there are many variations of pink: french rose, magenta, carnation, fuchisa, pink persian salmon, raspberry pink, and so many more than i could ever name. and think of all the ways pink is used. now a rock star is named pink.
we even color our hair pink.......
and those pink roses we are welcome to receive no matter the occasion....
pink............ my dream is to have my walls painted pink again as when i was that small child, but this time a much more stronger, bolder pink. perhaps even a pink linen wallpaper!!!!

When I was a little girl......time stood still........now time flies! What's more is "time flies when you are having fun" remember this saying. Well, I thought as a child I was having fun - long days just playing outside, catching fireflies, trying to keep up with my older brother. However, I must say I am really having fun today.

The funniest part of my job is working in my laboratory, the showroom. Being able to create very different settings- sometimes with the same furnishings and accessories. Recently we received a new shipment of LEE Industries sofas and chairs - which prompted the new vingettes. When working with a monochromatic scheme, textures are very important to give dimension and distinction. Using leather, wool, damask, linen mixed with metal, glass, and wood makes for a warm, inviting place to relax.
Part of the laboratory is working with fabrics and wallpaper.
